Tiling the Front and the Sky Cactus

Things have been pretty quiet here in the month of July.  We have had a lot of rain this month, so much that we started wearing life jackets to bed.  Last week was better, the cushions in the back actually were dry one day and we were able to sit in the pool two afternoons in a row.
Front entry first day of home ownership.

Gary has been a busy bee at the other house, he worked on tiling the front entry and it looks so much better, the sidewalk on the side is now done and painted and he has moved to the back of the house working on the ceiling in the lanai.
Front entry done, tiling completed this week.

Right side of house on first day.

Right side done this week.  Sidewalk painted too.

I actually was supposed to help him with spraying the ceiling this morning but after we both were full of the gug he was spraying and he wasn't even halfway thru, he let me go home since our system was not working.  The gug ended up all over the walls which was what I was supposed to prevent.  I wasn't meant for that type of work apparently.  I just take the pictures for the blog.  I tried to explain that to Gary as I ran for my car.

Cactus to the sky!

I had to add the picture of the cactus I saw at the end of our street.  The cactus bush is normally about 4-5 feet high.  One day this thing just appeared reaching to the sky.  Look at it next to the stop sign.  Pretty weird.  I'm waiting for Jack to climb up the damn thing.  Or for it to fall over.

The days are hot and lazy in Florida in the summer.  I keep thinking about the blog and then I take a nap or go in the pool and the computer just doesn't work that great when its wet.  But at least I'm thinking about it as I float around.  Come on now.  Margaret

Fireworks and More

We want to wish everyone a belated Happy Fourth of July,  there were lots of fireworks in our neighborhood.  Apparently the 500 fireworks tents recently erected in Cape Coral need lots of money and there are plenty of people around us helping them out.

Gary and I like to sleep, we usually are in bed by 9 pm.  But we like to get up early so it works for us.  Our neighbors obviously are on a different schedule.  We heard fireworks going off  til 11 pm or so all around us.  It was hard to sleep thru but we toughed it out and stayed in bed.

And Gary has to get up early, he has a house to work on.  We have owned the other  house (140) since May 23rd and from the pictures you will see that Gary has been a little busy.  It looks a little different, he has done some landscaping, the roof has been replaced,  painting, new doors, the grass is being watered, and he hasn't even started anything inside.   He still has a ways to go.  So we have to get bed early so he can be out there before it heats up too much.  And we have had lots of rain this past week too, helps the grass, not the paint so much.

I took some pix of the house on Friday, July 5th, on my way to the golf course.  Someone has to have a social life.  The neighbors are happy to have Gary on the job, I don't mind taking pix when I remember the camera and we have another year before the fireworks keep us up half the night and hopefully the house will be done by then.  Margaret
