Happy National Margarita Day!!!

Yes, it is truly a day to celebrate.  And it is only right that you have several Margaritas to show your loyalty to one of the all time favorite drinks, first there's a song about them. Now a national holiday!!  And anything named after "Margaret" has to be good.

There has been less company this past week but that's only because Cousin Mary had the company at her house.  Her sister who is also my cousin, Betty, came for the week and did she ever pick a week to come down here.  The weather was perfect, sunny and hot every day.  A week ago we had to stop over at my favorite place on earth, Bonita Bill's.
World famous Peppermint Patty stopped for a picture with us.
We danced all afternoon, drank ice cold beer, sampled some bar food and Mary and Betty each had their very first Jello shot.  Neither one knew how to drink/eat it, but they managed.  I have to teach them everything!
Tuesday was Pat's birthday and we headed over to the local Mexican place where you can get a free meal on your birthday.  Of course Pat took full advantage of anyplace giving out free meals and he already had a free meat lover's pizza at the Dek.  Free food has Pat's name all over it.  Good thing he only has a birthday once a year, these places would go broke!

Pat has free fried ice cream - he gets so excited.

So, go on and get that Margarita mix out and raise your glass.  Its the right thing to do.  Margaret

Let's Catch Up

Ok you're probably thinking nothing for over a month and now two posts in one day.  Let me explain.  Not much happening in January, it was a cooler month and luckily company waited to come down til the end of January and then we had boom, two weekends full of fun.  And so now I am trying to catch up cause I think we're gonna be busy this month and my memory being what it is, I have to strike before its gone.

The weekend after my nieces were here, Rudy and Jan, our Minnesota neighbors came down for a long weekend.  For some reason, my camera did not have the usual amount of pictures from this trip which really makes me use my brain to try to remember all our activities.

We headed over to Miceli's in Matlacha on Thursday afternoon.  Not only were we able to sit outside by the water and eat, they had a special on prime rib that day which made Gary and Rudy extremely happy.  Miceli's is an Italian restaurant very popular in the area.  When the weather is nice, the restaurant is empty cause everyone wants to sit outside by the water.  It could not be a better way to spend an afternoon with friends.

Friday we took the Fort Myers Princess looking for dolphins and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Of course we had to go over to Nervous Nellie's which is right by the Fort Myers Princess.  We again were able to sit outside and enjoy a very nice meal with music playing.  I think it was a good choice even tho there was no prime rib special there.

We played lots of cards just like we used to in Minnesota, got in some golf, went over to the Cape Coral Bike Nite and saw lots of bikes, interesting people and tattoos.  Its Bike Nite people.  We fit Ford's Garage in, a Chocolate Fair which was pretty sucky and even did some swimming.  All in all we had a great time with our old neighbors, its like we never left.  Except its not freezing here and there is no snow or ice.  Or windchill.  Or parkas....   Margaret

A Very Niece Visit

It has been a wild couple of weeks for us in southwest Florida.  Seems like all the northerns want to flock down here and get out of the snow and cold and we LOVE it.  My nieces finally came down for a visit and we had a great time.

Our first nite we headed over to Sandy Hook on Matlacha.  We tried two other establishments before we finally found a table that Thursday nite.  Doesn't anybody cook anymore?

Friday morning Ellen specifically requested a stop at the world famous Waffle House so we could sit at the counter with the locals.  The pecan waffle I had was excellent and CeCi served great coffee.  Good call Ellen!

Because it was slightly cooler than normal we saw lots of manatees at the manatee park where the water is warmer and the manatees love to gather.

After the manatee park, we headed for a boat ride in Naples hoping to find rich bachelors for these two so we have a mansion to visit.  At least we  saw some dolphins playing by the boat.

Louise decided that  antifreeze drink would be a good idea since she had to head back to Minnesota in a few days.  She looks happy at Tin City in Naples.  Who doesn't love a little antifreeze to keep you going?

And since we were not successful finding any menfolk in Naples, Louise started following this guy on Fort Myers Beach.  I think she forgot there was a person attached to the artwork.

I just thought this was a cool picture of a guy and his dog paddle boarding around Saturday. Very cute and the dog wasn't bad either.
Sunday morning we even had time for a round of golf.  Of course Ellen beat everyone there.  Show off.

We had a very visit with Mary and Pat at our new Ford's Garage Restaurant in Cape Coral.

Quick stop at Ford & Edison Estates with the girls.  They are as pretty as the flowers there.

My nieces are both young professionals who live in the Minneapolis area and when I say we had the best time, I am not just saying that.  Its good to spend time with young people once in a while.  It can be hard to keep up.  But we packed in as much as we could in a short time and while it may take us some time to recover it was well worth it.  I just hope they come back and keep looking for those rich bachelors.  Its the only way I'm ever going to be welcome in a mansion in Naples without having to clean it.  Margaret
