On Saturday we joined a group of our neighbors for a canoe trip down the Peace River. The river is located in Arcadia which is about an hour northwest of us. Gary plugged in the GPS with the address off the internet and when we arrived at the address, we were in a field in the middle of nowhere and there was no river. There wasn't even a puddle. And since we do not know the area we had no idea which way to go. The GPS was worthless at this point and after lots of blame, we found an old guy working on his yard and asked him for directions. Apparently this happens all the time so he knew exactly how to direct us to Canoe Safari on the Peace River. Since this is a second rate operation, we didn't get going for about another hour so we had plenty of time to figure out that Gary was to blame for our getting lost. Of course.

The Peace River has several options to pick from as far as length of trip, we decided to go with the 9 mile ride which required very little paddling and lots of sitting. The river flows pretty quickly so we really had very little to do but eat, drink, dodge branches and search for gators. There were none, the water was nice and cool, there were rope swings scattered for the more adventurous and some sandy beaches to sit on even more. We had a great time altho one of our group members did end up capsizing and going into the river. There was not much we could do but watch their mustard, cooler and beer float by. Luckily this happened near the end of the trip so most of the beer cans were empty which made it less tragic. But still, one full beer is one too many.

Then this morning as we were laying in bed watching the news wondering if there were any events for the girls since we left them at home all day on Saturday, we saw the Weiner Dog Fest set for today. It was a miracle! So we packed up the girls and headed for the Shell Factory for a day full of weiner festivities. There were weiners everywhere. A couple were even noisier than DeDe. We entered DeDe in the weiner dog race and of course she had no idea what to do so she lost. Twice.

But we had a lot of fun, saw lots of other weiners and their owners and decided to put DeDe into training for the next race. We see a future for her if she would just focus. Now if she would only understand what focus means. Margaret
